SITEX 2005

Ok, time for the review of the exhibition. Despite the morning "blessed" nags from mom, the trip to SITEX 2005 still proceed as planned. BB Seth slept till 10am and I quickly get him bathed and out of the house by 10.30am, got breakfast for Jas and myself as I we'll be meeting at her place for brunch. Picked Olive Tree up from office at 12.30pm and we headed for the exhibition.

Upon reaching, we met my ex-colleague, Teng Leng from NCS. So coincidence! He was so bemused that I brought BB Seth along for the exhibition. I said, "This is my son's 1st ever techie exhibition hor!" ("D) Chatted for awhile and then we bid farewell to each other. First stop, SCV sign up for Digital Cable. I have really got so bored with the limited free to air TV channels. Since we are able to enjoy good discounts with more than 30 channels added to the current free to air channels, why not? I was at first so happy that I am able to get a SGD50 tangs voucher as per brochures passed to me. I enquired and make sure that the vouchers are available for new sign up of digital cable and also I am still within the 200 customers. Gloating that I am able to use the SGD50 tangs voucher and get a brabantia dustbin at SGD9! At the thought of that, makes me such a happy subscriber.

However, much to my dismay, when I was signing up with the staff, she told me I am not entitled to the voucher. As the voucher is only for those who signed up for contractual period of 2 years and get a free 21" Toshiba flat screen TV! Duh!?! I pointed that the brochure was printed in a misleading manner as the sentence was a standalone caption! Moreover, the exhibition staffs standing outside told me that I am eligible?! Whatever, I believe the staff will stand by her claim. Anyhow, I already signed up for the cheapest package and to my criteria. While we we paying for the cash and carry deal, the staff informed the senior staff that I am complaining about the brochure and also was misinformed. With that, I only manage to get a "useless" A3 size STARHUB calendar, as a gift. And the infamous "gong fu" candy! urrgh?! Not forgetting to mention my blessed draw, I got my hand on a Starhub laptop bag! hiaz. That's the grabs we've got for being at SCV booth for more than half an hour!

SITEX 2005 PurchaseOk, the other purpose of the visit to the exhibition was to get a AIO printer. Jas is considering of a AIO printer too. But then, it must be of affordability and usability in the sense of SOHO environment. We laid our eyes on Brother's Printers. It's a good buy with meeting of Jas's requirement. Olive Tree got himself a Seagate USB 5GB Hard Drive, more than he requires at SGD169. I think it's a pretty good deal. He also got himself a 6 months free subscription of STUFF Magazine (value @ SGD36). Ok, that's about the deals we've got. However, I have yet to get mine!!

Intention of getting a AIO Printer that's good in photo printing and able to do the office stuffs of copying, faxing and scanning. I am pretty disappointed that Canon does not have any good bundle. Worse part is, the model that I am looking at, Canon MP170 wasn't even available for purchased. *tsk tsk* We went off around 4plus in the afternoon with me empty handed.

Overall, the show was not as fantastic as last year's SITEX. Exhibitors like Harvey Norman, had done minimal deco design for their booth. The outlook of the exhibition was pretty sloppily done up. Didn't have much deals as per I have expected. Smaller retailers like shops from SLS were exhibiting the usual stuffs, memory cards, flash drives, handhelds etc. I guess the highlight was cyber gaming since the WCG 2005 just ended. Many crowd around the cyber gaming booth of RAZER. Creative Booth was also pretty crowded due the cyber gaming section that they have staged up to showcase their sound systems too. Commending that APPLE has a much impressive booth as compared to last year's . This year the highlight was the iPOD Nano and also the new iMAC G5 with built-in iSight. Cool! I find that the show was not that fantastic and it can simply be termed as "hit and run" if you have already what you have in mind to add-on to your needs for technology. Apparently this time round, you'll see lots of "FINANCIAL PLANNING" companies trying to pull deals with you. (At SITEX, where technology talks, who wants to talk about Investment plans or Life Insurance?!)

Wanna Get?Researching on the net to find the reviews of this Brother Printer. I really do not know how fantastic is this machine and is it worth the deal. But I got to check it out further. Will go down SITEX again tonight as I am contemplating between a Brother or HP AIO Printer. It's tough to choose on the needs and wants. But I am weighing it carefully because I want to be able to enjoy the functions that come with the machine and ROI is good. Basically a wonderful print out with durability prints are important to me. Jas told me, "If I were to come to SITEX alone, I would leave in 5 minutes." However, when going such show with me, and my nature, I would walk and ask, walk and ask. Very discerning in getting IT gadgets as every cents of investment counts! (But some deem spendthrift and useless. To each it's own judgement. Isn't it?

Jesus Loves Me

Seth woke up from his afternoon nap. He walked out of the bedroom and I was in the living room. Started to warm up a bit, and then he drove his fire engine truck around the living room. Next moment, here's what he was singing, Jesus loves me, yes I know, For the bible tells me noe, Didder one to him bidon, Yes, Jesus, loves me..... I thought I have heard wrongly, and he was repeating the song again and again. It's amazing for me. :) The effects of singing lullaby to your kid. They do remember!!! And can sing out almost 70% of the song, though the pronunciation may not be there for some words. But he gets the tune correct. It's so cute and heartwarming to hear that from my boy. Updates....more updates

D-day for IRAS e-Filing! I am such an 11th hour person, that I manage to e-file my tax return last night. Anyway, I am not getting any income for year 2005. So it's totally easy for me to e-file. Clicking and clicking a few buttons and the e-file is done. However, it wasn't so smooth flowing for Olive Tree. WHY? Because he has forgotten his Singpass PIN and he has to get a new one. Worse part is, he can only get it today, since I am such a last minute work person, he'll have to mad rush into getting the PIN from the appointed places for SINGPASS application. I felt bad and I apologise. What to do with a wife like that? Just have to bite the bullet lor. Since last week test posting in the office is working well, I deem I should step up my blog update. Has not been very constant in updating my blog, be it the scrapblog or this. Feeling bad about it. Seth has been growing in tremendous speed! haha! That's obvious! He starts to enter the mimic stage where he'll mimic t...

Doggy Poo

Seth's into this Korean Anime Craze now. He was so into Pororo for the past 2 weeks. Then last Thursday, he has a new fav, Doggy Poo . The Anime is quite a meaningful one and Seth enjoys watching it, he names the characters, he asked about the story line. The funny part of it is hearing him say, "Doggy Poo" with such a cuteness. The story tells the little ones and even us, adults, God has a good plan for all of us, no matter how insignificant we may think our lives are. Image courtesy from Wikipedia Tomorrow we are sending Seth for his review. Hope his lungs are cleared and the medication feeding days are over. It's really a great struggle to feed the little guy his Antibiotics. Even now, he can goes on and on repeating the word, "Anti-biotices". Compose a tune about it! Aiyo. :(
